James is a Registered Patent Agent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He assists in conducting prior art studies, analysis to support non-infringement opinions, and preparation and prosecution of patent applications with particular expertise in mechanical and textile based technologies. James also has extensive experience in the biomedical art, specifically in medical and surgical devices
James is currently a law student at Chicago-Kent College of Law and expects to receive his J.D. degree in May 2021. Prior to law school, James was a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Art Unit 3765 and examined patent applications pertaining to textiles and textile manufacturing. This experience assists the firm’s clients in interfacing with patent examiners at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Earlier in his career, James was a process improvements engineer with Milliken & Company (Pendelton, N.C.) where he analyzed and improved machine efficiency in production of athletic apparel and medical dressing products. Mr. Heracklis received his B.S. in Textile Engineering from North Carolina State University.
